The Birthday Week

5.06.2013

Since my birthday fell on the weekend of our longest dance competition (in the history of my existence), my sweet mother allowed me to stretch out the celebration over the course of this week.

My actual birthday started with a 5:30 wake up, a delicious hot coffee and many notifications of sweet birthday messages. In the dressing room, I was surprised with a giant cake, balloons, singing, a few held back years and many hugs. I am so grateful for my dance family and all that they did to make my day so special. The younger ones kept reminding me that their gift was to dance their hardest with big smiles and lots of cuteness. Precious.

The week ended with a family dinner, oreo ice cream cake and thoughtful gifts. Today I am taking down the handmade birthday signs that hang all over the house, and hanging them up in my room. My family might be sick of seeing them, but I surely am not.

West Palm pt. II

Other things we did on our trip to West Palm Beach:

Got some sun. Ate chilli cheese dogs and the most delicious snow cone ever.
Went to the pool.. once.
Got tattooed by our cousin.. so in love with mine.

Listened to music Friday night downtown while sipping Coronas.
Had to send our cousin to the store to get a bottle opener (that looks like the key from the Secret Garden) because we didn't think of that when we bought the Corona.

Celebrated my cousin's Birthday and mine (a week early.. but what the hell?!)
with coconut rum and seafood on the pier.

It's good to be home but there have been many times this past week that I've missed my carefree attitude, salty skin & Palm Beach family.

We started off by staying at my Aunt and Uncles sweet condo in Palm Beach Gardens. They have a patio with bright colored chairs and gorgeous palm trees all around. Perfect for sipping coffee and feeling the breeze.

We went to the beach for a couple of hours where we collected sea shells, walked in the water and welcomed the sunkissed glow.

We traveled down Jupiter Beach a little ways to watch some wind surfers. They were so graceful and fluid floating from water to air seamlessly.

The sun was hot and the air was muggy, so there was very little hair styling to be done. In an instant we were sweating blobs with greasy, sunscreeny hair and sandy feet. Exactly what I love about the Florida weather.

Later Thursday night we checked into our hotel, went to dinner and welcomed our cousin who would spend the rest of the weekend with us!

Part II coming soon...
